Lead Generation

What is lead scoring?

Lead scoring assigns a numeric value to each enquiry based on how closely it matches your best customers, so the most promising ones get attention first. It is genuinely useful at volume and mostly unnecessary below it — most small service businesses need faster follow-up, not better ranking.

Frequently asked questions

When is lead scoring worth setting up?

When there are more leads than your team can contact promptly and someone has to decide the order. If every enquiry gets called within an hour anyway, it changes nothing.

What should be scored?

For local service businesses, attributes carry nearly all the signal — service, location, job type, urgency. Behaviour scoring was built for long software sales cycles and adds little to a two-day decision.

What is the common failure?

A model built on assumptions and never checked. Every quarter, compare scores against what actually closed. If high-scoring leads did not convert better, the model is decoration.

Is there a simpler version?

Three buckets: call now, call today, reply and park. It captures most of the value, can be applied by whoever answers the phone, and needs no software.

Want this looked at for your business?

Twenty minutes on the phone usually finds the one thing holding the number back. James answers himself.
